The light flashes as you record, so you have to make sure your subjects do not see it. I wish the instructions had a bit more detail, but I managed. The real time is very good. Good and clear picture. I haven't tried any photos yet. Takes a while to download from Windows Live Photo/Vidwo gallery, but that is the only one I've tried. All and all, great deal and fun little gadget.
