Valuable flight info in a cost effective package, October 31, 2011 By Daniel Schlenger (California) - See all my reviews This review is from: iFly 700 Aviation GPS (Electronics) I debated and researched for months before deciding to try the IFly 700. With such great options from Garmin, iPad, etc etc, the decision was not easy. After reading a couple of reviews I purchased one. The only accessory I bought was the external battery. Now to check it out. My home office near Lake Tahoe has one window that faces east and my desk is on the interior wall about 10 ft from the window. The window is shaded by a 6 ft overhang. The GPS had a lock in about a minute anyway. VERY impressive. That inspires confidence about how effective it will be at keeping a GPS signal in the sky. I learned the basic menus but didn't appreciate the utility of this GPS until I went flying. I am in the process of buying a Turbo Dakota. I have no current Piper time as the local FBO rents 172's. I went flying at an aiport I hadn't visited for about 5 years with my new iPad 2 with WingX in an unfamiliar Archer with two Garmin 430's that I didn't know how to use and a Garmin G500 panel that I... no battery, December 27, 2011 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: iFly 700 Aviation GPS (Electronics) I bought this for my husband for when he goes gliding.
Unfortunately there is NO POWER source on a glider plane (that he rents), so I have to return it.
This was saddening because it appeared to be full of helpful needed information for when he flies.
