Good potential, bad execution, tricky install, November 13, 2011 By Fosters (Minneapolis, MN) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Valor Multimedia DD-806W Double Din Multimedia Receiver (Electronics) I purchased this mainly because I have another older Valor indash in another car, and loved it. They sound good - one of the few decks sending some decent bass thru the speaker outs. For the price, the feature set is awesome. One of the better parts of this, I think, is the somewhat modular rear jacks, it has 3 wire looms on the back you can plug in or leave out. Really useful in cluttered dashes. It supports up to 32gb SD memory cards. Bluetooth has a built in mic, no longer the awful kind you have to route the wire for via the entire car. Unlike my old Valor, this thing also starts up in literally, no time at all.
Now for the bad: It seems longer than the previous one. So long in fact that it does not fit in the dash opening with a metra kit. I'm going to try the Bestkits kit, otherwise i'm gonna have to find another vehicle to put it in. Right now, it simply hits on the ducting for the vents before the dash can snap in the last half an inch. This is in a 2001... Read more

I Can't Believe It's So Cheap..., March 10, 2012 By This review is from: Valor Multimedia DD-806W Double Din Multimedia Receiver (Electronics) I have owned many stereo systems with various speaker configurations throughout the years. Also a few Multimedia/navigation players - mainly that came as options on my Toyotas (as well as on two 2005/2006 higher-end Mercedeses). This is why I can't believe how cheap this Valor 806 is to buy. First off, it is solidly built - on par with the Toyotas and the two Mercedeses. It is MODERN. It has a lot of stuff to plug in your multimedia devices like SD cards, flash drives, and it can even play any music that you have on your iPhone WIRELESSLY via the Bluetooth connection. Very cool.
The sound seems noticeably better than the stock unit my new Toyota came in. I did not dislike the stock sound - as opposed to the cars in the 70s/80s when most stock sound systems sucked, majority of Japanese/German cars nowadays seem to come with good basic speakers and receivers.
